275 new postdoctoral fellowships awarded

The FWO Board of Trustees awarded 275 new postdoc fellowships of which 200 are junior fellowships and 75 senior. Meise Botanic Garden funds one additional postdoctoral fellowship.

There were 1368 applications for the junior fellowships and 505 for the senior fellowships. As a result, the success rate this year fell to 14.4% (-1.3%) for junior postdocs and 14.6% (-0.9%) for senior postdocs.

Support from the Suzanne Duchesne Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, has made it possible to make an additional €83,000 of special bench fees available to selected postdoc researchers in oncology and as a result of that, two postdocs from the Med4 panel have received a special bench fee.

In addition, L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science awards an additional bench fee of €20,000 to the highest-ranked female candidates in the biomedical and STEM disciplines, in particular in the fields of Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Science & Technology, to support their research careers.
